Relationships as the core of the world order
The Kogi, an indigenous people from the mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia, see the order of our relationships – especially intimate partnerships – as central to the balance of the world. For the Kogi, the relationship between man and woman, between the cosmic polarities of male and female, is the basis of all creation.
Their partnerships are long-lasting and stable, and break-ups are rare. Relationships are not a private matter for the Kogi, but an important contribution to the balance of the earth. They say: “A marriage never consists of just two people, but always of a woman, a man and the earth.” In this way, every partnership is embedded in the wider context of life.
What you can expect in the workshop
Together we dive deep into the wisdom of the Kogi on relationships and partnership. We deal with these questions:
- How do the Kogi find their partners? How do they check whether they fit together?
- How do marriages take place? What rituals connect couples spiritually?
- What do masculine and feminine mean? Why do men represent the mountains and women the lakes?
- What is everyday life like for the Kogi couples? What rituals keep their relationship pure and promote complication-free pregnancies and births?
- How do the Kogi deal with conflicts? What happens in the event of infidelity and how do they manage to keep relationships stable?
- What does “thinking together in one thought” mean? How do couples learn to act harmoniously and thus support balance in the world?
